Summer drinks

I apologize that I mix languages today, but I figured I post this recpie in Swedish. Perfect for when you invite you friends over for a summer-dinner which I´m going to do today, so I better get started...

1 dl hårt packad färsk mynta
5 dl strösocker
2 lime
1,2 liter vatten
5 dl färskpressad limesaft (ca 12 lime)

1. Mosa myntabladen med 1 dl av sockret.

Back in Slovenia for the fall

I´m a house of cards in a hurricane...
Back in Slovenia now. Spent a couple of days in Ljubljana to catch up with some friends I haven´t seen the whole summer (me being in Sweden and they...well not in Sweden but everywhere else, all from Paris and Ireland to Australia and Taiwan). But yesterday I felt it was time for me to go to Portoroz to chill in the heat by the sea. Off I went with the train and taddaaa, here I am. 30 degrees in the sun, beaches, a lot of tourists. Wonderful. Better work on that tan and collect even more freckles (or sunkisses as my grandmother calls them. Sunkisses does sounds a lot better that freckles!) on my nose and checks. After two months of working and being home in Sweden it now feels pretty good. It feels like I had three different summers this year. The first one with my cousin in Portoroz in June, my second one in Sweden home alone for six weeks and work and now in Portoroz once again for a month with my other cousin (the first cousin´s brother). It doesn´t feel like one summer...who ever said summers aren´t long?
Ok, I´m off to our sailing-club to see if there´s something interesting going on. All it takes ís me...really :)

Amazing treats with a healthy twist

It´s hot outside and I´m parched. Sometimes a simple fresh fruit plate or cup is all you need for some delicous summertime snacking. This summer/autumn the sun in Portoroz is starting to boil. Heat and humidity are creeing up into the air each morning. Working or even just chillin´can leave you feeling a little bit worn out. So I suggest you get yourself a cold, creamy, frosty, fresh and fruity smoothie or juice. Enjoy! I´m off to the beach again :)

The roads of Europe

It´s time for me and my brother to hit the roads of Europe. We start with Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Austria and finish with Slovenia (Ljubljana). I usually prefer flying but if you have a lot of bagage then the best way is to take the bus (no restrictions). Before I started to study my family and I went to Slovenia (two-three months, June, July and August) and back to Sweden by car through Europe (the same countires as now) so I´ve travelled this road more than 45 times (since I was 1 year old). I know it by heart :)

I´m off...yet again

Ok, I´m off to Slovenia. See you soon. Got some obligations at the university first but I´ll be heading down to Portoroz later this week ;)

The last day in Sweden

My last day. Mum and I hit the supermarket. Found all the things I needed and met a good friend, who I´m not going to see for about 100 days. I´m always like: I don´t want to leave, things will change and I won´t be able to "see" them, when I come back everything will be different! But it never is, everthing stays the same and it feels like I didn´t even leave. This holds true for both Sweden and Slovenia :( Anyhow, trying to pack the last of my things while I´m listening to "Sex on Fire" (I love that song) by Kings of Leon. They rooooooooooock! Got to check out if they have a Slovenia-concert planned some time soon.
I´ll see what I do later on today...want to enjoy the time left as much as possible! Maybe my sister and I´ll take a walk around the lake in the evening. My depature time is set to 21.50.

Supplies for the journey!

2.9.09

Mum and I are going to pick blueberries today (there are so many blueberries in the woods, it´s crazy) and hopefully make this delicious cake...I swear when I come back to Slovenia I promise not to eat anything that contains sugar until Christmas...to much sugar all the time!
Anyway, it´s soon time for me to pack the last of my things and leave this autumn-Sweden for summer-Slovenia (for about a month of summer).
Can´t wait :)

We in our family have picked berries and mushrooms and walked the woods since I can remember.
Most during late summer and autumn.
Mum and I have picked blueberries for two-three hours almost every day now. It so relaxing, some sort of meditation and the forrest is just so beautiful. Everything is so quiet and peaceful (except for when I´m screaming because I a) seen a spider or b) train my screaming (don´t ask)). We really enjoy ourselves, talk and joke a lot. I´m relly going to miss our little hobby som much!
This is one of those things I wish would never end...

I hate clowns

So you guys know the horror-movie "Amusement". We watched it last year, sometime between Christmas and New Year. Man, that movie is awesome...and creepy. It scared the shit out of me, let me tell you. It was a good thing we were at home when we watched it! I couldn´t sleep and all I could see were clowns, everywhere. I hate clowns. Always have and always will. When I was younger, before I even went to school, my grandfather used to take me to a circus now and then. He loved it and I was terrified. I think my disgust and that I feel a loathing for clowns started when one of them came up to me (I must have been four-five years old) and threw water in my face (from his flower) and then laughed his digusting laugh. I almost had a fit of hysterics. From then on I can´t stand clowns. If a clown even winks at me, than it´s game over for me.
Back to "Amusement". At first there are three different stories about three different girls who were, when they were younger, in the same class. Then there´s this weirdo (their classmate which they bullied) who kidnaps them, one by one. Later on all three of them are found in his cellar and there is some serious shit going on down there (sorry, my language, but it must be said). Anyway, the creepiest part is about the blonde who babysitts her nephews. It´s stormy and dark and she´s supposed to sleep in a room full of clown dolls. Who has creepy horror movie artifacts like evil clown dolls laying around their home??? There is a human-seized clown sitting in a chair next to the bed. You have all pretty much figured out already that that´s not a doll...when she goes to sleep the "doll" slowly turns his head and observes her (this totally freaked me out!) but of course she can´t see that. After going to the kitchen to get something or answering the phone, can´t remember, she returns and the clown...is gone!!!!!!!! I was suffocating when I saw this part!
I must have coulrophobia (abnormal or exaggerated fear of clowns, sufferers sometimes acquire a fear of clowns after having a bad experience with one personally (hallo, water in the face!). Well, I feel I need to point out that I´m not scared of Ronald McDonald or cartoon-clowns but humans dressed up in clowns and dolls...I just have to mention it again...I...hate...clowns...And guess what? A circus is coming to our town this weekend...hahahaha (a real hysterical laugh)...that´s so NOT funny...hilarious...I won´t even be here...hahaha!
What if one of their retarded clowns escapes and tries to get into our house? What if he sits by my bed when it´s dark and I can´t see him and he turns his head slowly from one side to another. Just thinking about that and I´m on the verge of tears. Last week when I was walking home from my work (10 minutes walking distance) a guy walked behind me. I could here his footsteps closer and closer and all I could think about was that he was a clown. I could already see his face in front of me. He just kept walking after me...until I came home and realized it was our neighbour. Maybe he likes clowns and even dresses up as one. Great, now I won´t even be able to sleep. Halloween pary this year; if somebody even considers coming to the party as a clown, I´m leaving town..or better yet, the country. Because I will not socialize with clowns.

Doesn´t this little fellow look like a clown? No, sorry, Viggo. Oh, wait! Maybe I can train him to become a clown-hunter.

Italian supper

Day before depature. Feels kinda sad actually...but at the same time I´m very exited and I can´t wait to see them all in Slovenia. Today my sister and I took a walk down to our local store where we bought "stuff" for our super-secret dinner and dessert (what am I, like twelve?). Later in the afternoon, after almost two hours of packing and complaint, my mum and I went to pick blueberries. You have to actually drag me and mum out of the woods. On our way back home we stopped and I took some photos. At this moment I´m standing in the kitchen, slicing mushrooms and trying to write at the same time...were making Italino for our family this evening and you have to cook with your heart when it comes to Italian food so I´ll see you guys later.

Photos from Slovenia

A little photosession with some photos from Slovenia. Me taking a photo, clothes I´ll wear this autumn, books for my studies, some wonderful autumn leaves, our (pink!) house in Portoroz (can you spot the ocean?), the river "Ljubljanica" thats flows thorugh Ljubljana, my writing table in Portoroz, a nice sunny autumn dessert and Ljubljana with the castle on the hill (from here only the tower is visable).
