Amazing treats with a healthy twist

It´s hot outside and I´m parched. Sometimes a simple fresh fruit plate or cup is all you need for some delicous summertime snacking. This summer/autumn the sun in Portoroz is starting to boil. Heat and humidity are creeing up into the air each morning. Working or even just chillin´can leave you feeling a little bit worn out. So I suggest you get yourself a cold, creamy, frosty, fresh and fruity smoothie or juice. Enjoy! I´m off to the beach again :)

The roads of Europe

It´s time for me and my brother to hit the roads of Europe. We start with Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Austria and finish with Slovenia (Ljubljana). I usually prefer flying but if you have a lot of bagage then the best way is to take the bus (no restrictions). Before I started to study my family and I went to Slovenia (two-three months, June, July and August) and back to Sweden by car through Europe (the same countires as now) so I´ve travelled this road more than 45 times (since I was 1 year old). I know it by heart :)

I´m off...yet again

Ok, I´m off to Slovenia. See you soon. Got some obligations at the university first but I´ll be heading down to Portoroz later this week ;)

The last day in Sweden

My last day. Mum and I hit the supermarket. Found all the things I needed and met a good friend, who I´m not going to see for about 100 days. I´m always like: I don´t want to leave, things will change and I won´t be able to "see" them, when I come back everything will be different! But it never is, everthing stays the same and it feels like I didn´t even leave. This holds true for both Sweden and Slovenia :( Anyhow, trying to pack the last of my things while I´m listening to "Sex on Fire" (I love that song) by Kings of Leon. They rooooooooooock! Got to check out if they have a Slovenia-concert planned some time soon.
I´ll see what I do later on today...want to enjoy the time left as much as possible! Maybe my sister and I´ll take a walk around the lake in the evening. My depature time is set to 21.50.

Supplies for the journey!

2.9.09

Mum and I are going to pick blueberries today (there are so many blueberries in the woods, it´s crazy) and hopefully make this delicious cake...I swear when I come back to Slovenia I promise not to eat anything that contains sugar until Christmas...to much sugar all the time!
Anyway, it´s soon time for me to pack the last of my things and leave this autumn-Sweden for summer-Slovenia (for about a month of summer).
Can´t wait :)

We in our family have picked berries and mushrooms and walked the woods since I can remember.
Most during late summer and autumn.
Mum and I have picked blueberries for two-three hours almost every day now. It so relaxing, some sort of meditation and the forrest is just so beautiful. Everything is so quiet and peaceful (except for when I´m screaming because I a) seen a spider or b) train my screaming (don´t ask)). We really enjoy ourselves, talk and joke a lot. I´m relly going to miss our little hobby som much!
This is one of those things I wish would never end...

I hate clowns

So you guys know the horror-movie "Amusement". We watched it last year, sometime between Christmas and New Year. Man, that movie is awesome...and creepy. It scared the shit out of me, let me tell you. It was a good thing we were at home when we watched it! I couldn´t sleep and all I could see were clowns, everywhere. I hate clowns. Always have and always will. When I was younger, before I even went to school, my grandfather used to take me to a circus now and then. He loved it and I was terrified. I think my disgust and that I feel a loathing for clowns started when one of them came up to me (I must have been four-five years old) and threw water in my face (from his flower) and then laughed his digusting laugh. I almost had a fit of hysterics. From then on I can´t stand clowns. If a clown even winks at me, than it´s game over for me.
Back to "Amusement". At first there are three different stories about three different girls who were, when they were younger, in the same class. Then there´s this weirdo (their classmate which they bullied) who kidnaps them, one by one. Later on all three of them are found in his cellar and there is some serious shit going on down there (sorry, my language, but it must be said). Anyway, the creepiest part is about the blonde who babysitts her nephews. It´s stormy and dark and she´s supposed to sleep in a room full of clown dolls. Who has creepy horror movie artifacts like evil clown dolls laying around their home??? There is a human-seized clown sitting in a chair next to the bed. You have all pretty much figured out already that that´s not a doll...when she goes to sleep the "doll" slowly turns his head and observes her (this totally freaked me out!) but of course she can´t see that. After going to the kitchen to get something or answering the phone, can´t remember, she returns and the clown...is gone!!!!!!!! I was suffocating when I saw this part!
I must have coulrophobia (abnormal or exaggerated fear of clowns, sufferers sometimes acquire a fear of clowns after having a bad experience with one personally (hallo, water in the face!). Well, I feel I need to point out that I´m not scared of Ronald McDonald or cartoon-clowns but humans dressed up in clowns and dolls...I just have to mention it again...I...hate...clowns...And guess what? A circus is coming to our town this weekend...hahahaha (a real hysterical laugh)...that´s so NOT funny...hilarious...I won´t even be here...hahaha!
What if one of their retarded clowns escapes and tries to get into our house? What if he sits by my bed when it´s dark and I can´t see him and he turns his head slowly from one side to another. Just thinking about that and I´m on the verge of tears. Last week when I was walking home from my work (10 minutes walking distance) a guy walked behind me. I could here his footsteps closer and closer and all I could think about was that he was a clown. I could already see his face in front of me. He just kept walking after me...until I came home and realized it was our neighbour. Maybe he likes clowns and even dresses up as one. Great, now I won´t even be able to sleep. Halloween pary this year; if somebody even considers coming to the party as a clown, I´m leaving town..or better yet, the country. Because I will not socialize with clowns.

Doesn´t this little fellow look like a clown? No, sorry, Viggo. Oh, wait! Maybe I can train him to become a clown-hunter.

Italian supper

Day before depature. Feels kinda sad actually...but at the same time I´m very exited and I can´t wait to see them all in Slovenia. Today my sister and I took a walk down to our local store where we bought "stuff" for our super-secret dinner and dessert (what am I, like twelve?). Later in the afternoon, after almost two hours of packing and complaint, my mum and I went to pick blueberries. You have to actually drag me and mum out of the woods. On our way back home we stopped and I took some photos. At this moment I´m standing in the kitchen, slicing mushrooms and trying to write at the same time...were making Italino for our family this evening and you have to cook with your heart when it comes to Italian food so I´ll see you guys later.

Photos from Slovenia

A little photosession with some photos from Slovenia. Me taking a photo, clothes I´ll wear this autumn, books for my studies, some wonderful autumn leaves, our (pink!) house in Portoroz (can you spot the ocean?), the river "Ljubljanica" thats flows thorugh Ljubljana, my writing table in Portoroz, a nice sunny autumn dessert and Ljubljana with the castle on the hill (from here only the tower is visable).

Shirts

What I´ve come to love are shirts made for men (even though I´m a super-girly-girl). Perfect for an evening at home or a shopping-tour in the city. They´re extremely comfortable and I really think it looks hot together with a pair of jeans! :)

31.08.09

Today was a fun day. I was home alone for almost the entire morning because the rest of the family went shopping...I know, pretty unbelievable that I didn´t tag along, but even I sometimes don´t feel like buying new stuff or stroll down the streets keeping my eyes open for new things.
My sister and I took a rather windy and "drizzling" , if I might say, walk around the lake...you can really feel it´s geeting colder and colder for each day now. When we came home it was straight to the dinner-table where a home-made soup made of fresh mushrooms was served.
Later in the evening we´ll watch "Hangover" (I´ve already seen but it´s just so hilarious so I can´t miss it!) with some candy. I also took some photos of our "pride and joy", our apple tree. We´ve eaten desserts made from blueberries and/or apples almost every day for two weeks now.

Grease style

Every girl needs a tough leather jacket á la Grease. Oh, that reminds me...it´s been ages since I last saw both Grease I and II. Got to say, my favourite song is "Cool Rider" from Grease II with Michelle Pheiffer doing the singing, not as good as Olivia Newton John in Grease I though.

My personal favourite is the dark brown one (top, to the right). I love the shape, the collar, the lenght, the fit, everything about it. I have a black and a dark-brown. Perfect together with smart pants or jeans, pumps or ballerinas, a cute top or shirt. Works with everything :)

Big "must haves" if you live in the city

A little break...

...with a couple of good friends and a dessert, it´s what we all derserve now and then ;)

Old pics

Found some old pics (food of course) from earlier this year which I think are pretty good...some of them my sister took and I must say that she´s an awesome "photographer"...maybe it´s in our blood :)

A study-day always needs a couple of spoons of ice-cream :)

"Fettisdagen". My sister and I went for a refreshing spring-walk down to the town and bought ingredients for "semlor". Well at home we made romantic "semlor" for mum and dad :)

My sister and I did this delicous dessert based on raspberries, whipped cream and her secret chocolate sauce. After we watched "Beause I said so".

Cider with Marabou-chocolate together with an episode of "Merlin". Got to love this combo ;)

Corny Candy Popcorn Balls

Here´s a recpie from the US. Full of popcorn, teddy bear cookies, and candy corn all glued together by melted marshmallows, this treat will be a hit. You'll need to work quickly to shape the balls, so gather everyone to help. Enjoy yourselves guys :)

Makes 20 popcorn balls.
  • 50  large marshmallows
  • 1/3  cup  butter or margarine
  • 20  cups  freshly popped popcorn
  • 2  cups  teddy bear-shaped chocolate graham cracker cookies
  • 2 1/2  cups  candy corn
  • Vegetable cooking spray
  • 1. Combine marshmallows and butter in a Dutch oven. Cook over medium-low heat until melted and smooth, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat.

    2. Combine popcorn and graham cracker cookies in a big bowl. Pour marshmallow mixture over popcorn mixture, tossing to coat. Stir in candy corn. Spray hands with cooking spray, and shape popcorn mixture into 3-inch balls, pressing together firmly. Cool on wax paper. Wrap balls in plastic wrap. Store in an airtight container up to 3 days

    Horror night at our place

My dad, sister and I have this tradition. every Friday evening we watch a horror-movie. But today my sister and I´ll take it a step further. We´re going to watch a couple of new horror-movies the entire night when everybody else in the house are already asleep. "The Last House on the Left", "Red Victoria" and perhaps another, for which one I don´t know the name of just yet...oh, wait, "Diary of the Dead". Earlier this year my sister and I had a "movie-night" with five movies but then the theme was Romantic Comedies. Let´s see how it goes tonight...something tells me we´re not even going to make it through the first film...a bunch of cowards, that´s what we are!
Ok, got to go and make some popcorn because you can´t watch a movie without popcorn! What kind of a movie would it be? :)
    Ciao

    27.08.09

Our dog´s fifth birthday today. Can´t believe it´s been so long already. Nothing much going on today. Some studying  and blueberry-picking with mum as planned. Just cillin´ . Found these wonderful pieces of clothing which I just have to have!

    Shopping deluxe 26.08.09

Shopping yesterday was a great idea. Found a lot of stuff :) Can´t wait to wear them all. Mum and dad got lost in the store (or at least it felt like that). My sister, brother and I sat in the car, ate chocolate (Marabou Summer Limited Edition) and chips, listened to music ("Memories" by David Guetta ft. Kid Cudi) and waited and waited...I was "forced" to go and buy a hot dog because my sister was so hungry. Not until we saw mum and dad we realized we both had a driver (me), the car and the car-keys...how´s that intelligent for you? But of course we would never do a thing like that, I like to take my pranks to a higher intellectual level. It would be fun for instance if we would move the car across the parking lot and them go back and watch mum and dad wondering were the hell they put the car...now that would be funny! :) But again, I wouldn´t do stuff like that to them. Anyway, when we came home we tried on all our clothes and had a private fashion show...where everybody had to admire everybody else. After we, three "kids" sat down in the living-room completely exhausted.
So you all know the new vampire series called "True Blood", a hit in the U.S? Well, not a hit if you ask me. Pretty boring and very strange...and aren´t vampires supposed to be beautiful (yes, I´ve read all the Twilight-books!)? Nope, nope, I think I concentrate on "Vampire Diaries" instead. Now that´s a great show.
What about tomorrow? Study and pick blueberries. It feels so nice being able to do things like this, no stress, just calm activites and doing things you like. God knows it soon starts again: early mornings, busy days with school, other activities, "running" from on side of the town to another and late nights. Can´t wait to the christmas-holidays...

The best chocolate int the world, if you ask me :)

    Shopping-day

It´s Wednesday today. Sunday was my last day at work so it feels kinda strange after working nine weeks for almost everyday and now being "free" for three days...hahah...but I´m already geeting used to it. Today the entire family´s going to a big shoppingmall one hour away from our town. I´m the one doing the driving today since I love to drive :) I haven´t written a shopping-list yet because I don´t need anything in particular but I´ll have my eyes open for these things today. Maybe I look for beige pumps (to match the trench-coat) instead of the black boots, which are already in my possession as well as a black trench-coat. As you can see, summer is not over just yet but I´m already making the money fly so I´m fully prepared for the autumn.

    Photos

So you all know I love to take photos. Landscape and food are my favourites (as you might have noticed when reading this blog ;). I love colours eventhough I think beige, white, black, grey, darkblue and darkbrown are most elegant when it comes to clothing, especially in autumn and winter, during summer I love clothes with lots of nice, soft colours. Colours do make one happy and calm. But everything in balance, right?
